The Structure
Situation
Set the scene. 1-2 sentences. What was the context? When? Where?
Task
What was YOUR responsibility? What were you expected to do?
Action
What did YOU specifically do? Use 'I', not 'we'. 3-4 concrete actions.
Result
What was the measurable outcome? Quantify. What did you learn?
Fill-in Template
Situation: [Set the scene β project/company/team, time period, what was happening]
Task: [Your specific role and responsibility in this situation]
Action:
β’ First, I [specific action you took]
β’ Then, I [next action β show initiative/skill]
β’ Finally, I [resolution action]
Result: [Quantified outcome β % improvement, βΉ saved, team size, timeline met]. [What you learned or how it shaped you.]

Show example answer βPro Tip
π‘ The most common mistake: spending 70% of your answer on Situation. The interviewer only needs context. Your Action is where you shine β spend 50% of your time there.
