Interview Prep Templates: Story Bank, Company One-Pager & Tracker

Copy-paste scaffolds that make your preparation organized and repeatable.

Good preparation is organized preparation. These three copy-paste templates turn scattered prep into a system you can reuse for every interview. Copy each into your notes app or a doc, fill it in once, and update it as you go.

STAR story bank template

Create one entry per story. Aim for eight covering leadership, conflict, failure, impact, ambiguity, influence, pressure, and growth. Copy the block below for each.

Story template

Title: [short name you'll remember] | Competencies it covers: [e.g. leadership, pressure] | Situation: [1-2 sentences] | Task: [your responsibility] | Action: [3-4 things YOU did] | Result: [quantified outcome + what you learned] | Questions it answers: [list the prompts this story fits]

Company research one-pager

Fill one out per company before the interview. It powers your 'why us' answer and your questions.

One-pager template

Company: ___ | What they do / product: ___ | Business model (how they make money): ___ | Recent news (last 6-12 months): ___ | Main competitors: ___ | Culture & values: ___ | Why I want to work here (specific): ___ | My 3 questions for them: ___ | Interviewer(s) & background: ___

Weekly prep tracker

Turn prep into a habit with a simple weekly target. Adjust the numbers to your timeline.

Tracker template

Week of: ___ | Mock interviews done (target 3): ___ | Behavioral stories rehearsed: ___ | Technical / case reps: ___ | Weakest area this week: ___ | Focus for next week: ___ | Applications sent / follow-ups: ___

๐Ÿ’ก The tracker's real value is the 'weakest area' line โ€” it turns every session into a pointer for what to practice next.
