The board draws heavily from your DAF and probes how you think, not what you've memorized. This deep-dive covers the enduring skills; it deliberately avoids dated current-affairs specifics, which change every cycle.
Mine your DAF thoroughly
- •Every entry is a question waiting to be asked: home state and district, education, service and cadre preferences, hobbies, and work.
- •For your home area, know real issues — administrative, economic, social — with a balanced, feasible perspective.
- •For hobbies and your optional subject, expect to be tested on genuine depth, not surface claims.
- •Prepare honest, specific reasons behind your choices; the board can tell rehearsed from real.
Situational and ethics questions
Stay calmTake a breath; a measured pause beats a rushed answer.
Legality & safetyGround decisions in law, public safety, and due process first.
Stakeholders & empathyWeigh those affected; show humanity alongside firmness.
Practical actionGive a concrete, implementable course of action, and acknowledge trade-offs.
💡 The board rewards maturity and balance far more than strong opinions. There is rarely one 'correct' answer — they watch how you reason to it.
Composure and delivery
- •It's a conversation, not an interrogation — engage respectfully and listen fully before answering.
- •If you don't know, say so honestly; bluffing is penalized more than admitting a gap.
- •Give balanced views that acknowledge multiple sides; avoid rigid or emotional stances.
- •Practice out loud in mock interviews — temperament under pressure is the real subject of the test.
